Key Features

  • Two clearly labeled text areas: Original Text and Modified Text
  • Line-by-line comparison using a reliable longest-common-subsequence (LCS) diff algorithm
  • Added, removed, and unchanged lines are each clearly marked
  • Additions and removals use both color AND a text prefix ('+' / '-'), so the difference is not color-only
  • Statistics for total original lines, total modified lines, added lines, and removed lines
  • Copy Result button to copy a plain-text summary of the comparison
  • Reset/Clear button
  • Correctly handles empty inputs and identical text

Who It's Useful For

  • Writers, editors, developers, and students who need to quickly spot differences between two versions of text, such as edited drafts, configuration snippets, or revised copy.

Practical Examples

  • Paste the original paragraph of an article into "Original Text" and the edited version into "Modified Text," then click Compare to see which sentences were added, removed, or left unchanged, along with a summary count of each.

Tips for Better Results

  • This tool compares text line by line, not character by character or by meaning. If you want to catch small changes within a single long line, consider breaking your text into shorter lines before comparing.

FAQ

Does this tool compare individual characters or words?

No. This tool performs a line-by-line comparison using a longest-common-subsequence (LCS) algorithm. It identifies which full lines were added, removed, or unchanged; it does not perform character-level or word-level highlighting within a line.

Does it understand the meaning of my text?

No. The comparison is a reliable local, line-based algorithm. It does not use AI or semantic analysis to interpret meaning.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. All comparison happens locally in your browser. Your text is never transmitted to AIGuideDesk or any third party.

What happens if I compare identical text?

The tool will show that there are no added or removed lines and clearly indicate the two texts are identical.

What happens with empty input?

If both boxes are empty, the tool will show a message asking you to enter text. If only one box has text, every line in it will be shown as fully added or fully removed.

Is the result accessible to colorblind users?

Yes. Added and removed lines are marked with both a background color and a text prefix ('+' for added, '-' for removed), so the distinction does not rely on color alone.
